At Orb Rope Access we are committed to continued professional development (CPD) for both our technicians and our management team. We believe this keeps all team members up to date with best practices and allows us to keep one step ahead of industry developments, particularly with regard to safety regulations.
In December, Orb Rope Access Director Matt Lavery and technicians Tom and Jack undertook the IOSH approved Safety Management in the Rope Access and Work at Height Industry course.
IOSH (Institute of Occupational Health and Safety) approved courses are among the best occupational safety and health courses in the working at height industry. This course was born out of an industry call for improvements around planning, secure work systems, supervision, human factors during operations, and rigorous auditing and monitoring.
The aims of the course are to establish a benchmark health and safety competence for those responsible for rope access and work at height projects. There was a particular emphasis on planning work, with a view to meeting legal requirements and following established best practice.
Our team found the course really insightful and will be putting what they have learned into practise on future jobs. This will further enhance the stringent health and safety procedures that we already observe on all projects.
