IRATA Member
Our ongoing commitment to excellence.
Proud to be a full IRATA member and hold SafeContractor status
Orb Rope Access is a full IRATA member (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association). IRATA was formed in the UK in the late 1980s to provide safe working environments, primarily in the offshore oil and gas industry.
Today, IRATA is established as the global leading authority on industrial rope access. Orb Rope Access is one of over 600 IRATA member companies across the world.
What does our full IRATA membership mean for you?
Orb Rope Access’s full IRATA membership gives you the confidence and reassurance that safety and best practice are at the core of the work we do. We are accountable to IRATA’s Code of Practice, and audited every three years to ensure that we are operating within the code’s parameters and to its high standards.
To become IRATA members, Orb Rope Access went through a gruelling application process including a full audit and onsite inspection, after which we were awarded probationary membership status. This was a huge step for us and demonstrated our commitment to excellence and the safety of our technicians, clients and members of the public. In May 2022, after a successful probationary year, we were granted full IRATA membership.
As IRATA members, we are continually reviewed in operational areas that are essential for providing you with an outstanding service and quality of work.
These include:
- A full audit trail of all work completed
- Quality controls, management and planning
- Responsibilities of management and key personnel
- Human resources and training
- The safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities
Aims and objectives of IRATA
- Dedication to improving best practice of individuals working in rope access.
- To promote and maintain high standards, safety, work quality and working practices for the industrial rope access industry.
- To promote continual improvement in the education and training aspects of rope access.
- To increase awareness of the advantages of rope access over alternative access methods.
SafeContractor Accreditation
In addition to our IRATA membership, Orb Rope Access holds SafeContractor accreditation. This accreditation tells our clients that we meet the highest standards of health and safety, equal opportunities, diversity and environmental management practices.
The core criteria of SafeContractor accreditations are approved by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive). These criteria are checked when granting a company SafeContractor status, and include financial stability, quality management, work equipment, equality, maintenance records, training, and insurance policies.
